Default Extended warranty on Bluray player

Anybody have an opinion weather it would be worth it to extend the warranty. I've never bought one before. CC has the S300 for $499 and $82 for 5 year ext W

It really depends on how you personally feel...

CC makes money off of these warrenties or else they wouldn't sell them...

It really is a good idea for peice of mind, but read over the agreement first. Sometimes companies charge you 80 dollars or so, but then in the agreement its stated that it only covers against failure or defects, and does not cover damage that is incured from extreme usage or environmental damages.

Also, some companies say that they have to try and repair the item before they replace it, and you could wind up having to wait months for a your unit to get repaired or replaced.

I usually buy the warrenty just for kicks, in case, if something does break and I don't have the money at the time to replace it, I can just wait for it to get repaired or hopefully replaced.

I don't like paying the extra for something I will not use. I have only ever purchased for Televisions since they are tyically the most expensive electronic equipment I buy. I haven't ever had to use one for that either, but that is just me. I take really good care of my stuff.

I only bought an extended warranty once back in the day for a portable cd player, and it was a nightmare. It broke, so I took it back to CC expecting to exchange it and be on my way, but instead they sent it out for service. It took almost three months for them to decide it couldn't be repaired, but by that time I had already bought a new one. To add insult to injury, they no longer carried that model, so they gave me the cheapest piece of crap they had to replace it, claiming that the features were comparable. I boycotted CC for several years after that experience, and have never wasted my money on another extended warranty.

The BB and CC guys must get a commission from selling a customer an extended warranty. They always have this big sad look on their face when I say !! NO !!

Technology moves so fast now...you end up dumping the unit for next years wiz-bang model anyway.

Save the money to buy more juicy BD disks!

They don't get anything, except they get to keep their job for making their quota.

The store makes a huge profit on them
