Default Games good for 2.35:1 Cinemascope setups

(No black bars haters here please), I have gotten interested in CIH set ups and though about what would be some great games that that would work great for 2.35:1 widescreen set ups, and here are a few picks of mine.

LittleBigPlanet would be great for platformers and you be able to see the range of the screen farther and gives you great range around the area. Also, sackboy in Cinemascope.

Heavenly Sword would make the action scenes more dynamic and gives the player range around their enemies and the warfare sequences would have more of a emotional impact than with a 16:9 TV, it feels more like a Kung Fu Movie.

A fighting game like Tekken or Street fighter would make the fighting scenes more like an actual fight than a movie as the camera doesn't pan so fast since the fighters have room to fight around.

A strategy game would allow you to awe the masses of armies on the field, it feels more of a authentic war epic than a helicopter view of the battlefield.

As much as I love the Idea of Cinemascope gaming, some games may not work as well with cinemascope, shooters (Except maybe the new resident evil games) may have a difficult time with vertical range and it doesn't feel like you are looking through a person's eyes, and some action games such as God of War doesn't have the awe of the gigantic gods and titans in the game as it would with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. You got to take photography into account, but that's what I think.

What would you think would be some great games for cinemascope.

Should work fine. Why not just zoom to fill the 2:35 with games?

Think of it this way, you have the game in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, then you use the V-stretch mode in your projector, then use an anamorphic lens to stretch the image horizontally, just like you do with 2.35:1 movies, the benefits are the same with a CIH set up, and are more benefits with it since it uses less pixels and allows for higher framerates in games, it's sort of a win win situation with those with anamorphic set ups. By the way, I plan on making an anamorphic lens and I already ordered the prisms.

I assume that you are referring to a 2.35:1 "native" configuration and not just letterboxing on an otherwise less narrow screen?

Anyway, I agree that strategy games (such as RTS) would work great for this. Not only do you need a wide view of the battlefield but you also need a significant amount of "HUD" real estate.

IMO I also think that FPS may benefit although the geometry might get a little weird. With FPS games I always feel that my view is unnaturally narrow. IRL I can see almost 180 degrees around me (well, probably more like 150 degrees, but still). That's probably why I prefer OTS/3PS. If you think about it, in reality, at any given time your field of vision is relatively narrow. Much closer to "widescreen" than "fullscreen".

Good point, I did think about that but I figured where would they place the weapon in the 2.35:1 configuration, if they placed it in the far right of the screen it wouldn't be as natural but it could work as well if it is placed in the center (not doom-like though), but I think it would be more natural with a third person shooter (Say Resident Evil 4 or 5, not sure about Gears of War though). I did get this weird feeling Halo would be great for a 2.35:1 set up, I think it has to do with it's HUD or scenery.

I would suggest they make a native 2.35:1 configuraion (with these 22:9 TVs) but letterboxing will be fine (With CIH set ups particularly).

Actually now that I think about it, that would be a problem. In reality, unless you are aiming down the crosshairs, the natural position to hold a gun (when walking around, etc) is down by your hips in the case of larger weapons (rifle, shotgun, etc) or up by your shoulder in a tactical scenario with a pistol. In either event the gun isn't really in your line of sight. =P So yeah I think that might be the only problem with making the field of vision more narrow - where to put the gun so a person can reasonably aim without having to just resort to cross-hairs only. In the end I think this is why I will always prefer a third-person view.
