USA Best War movies

Probably another one like this one out there but I decided to go for it anyway. I'm kind of a war movie nut and have seen quite a few. Just want to get everyone's opinion and maybe get some ideas on new ones to watch. Just going for the top five here.

1. Full metal Jacket
2. Saving Private Ryan
3. We Were Soldiers
4. Platoon
5. Apocalypse Now

Hands down, Saving Private Ryan. Followed by an unmentioned Blackhawk Down.

Black Hawk Down is one of my favorite. The parts of Red Dawn I saw were interesting. Doesn't quite fit in the list, but 300 is also amazing.

I guessing this tread is pertaining to all war movies and not just ones available on blu?

The Patriot is a great addition to any collection!

top 5 for me.

Saving Private Ryan
Glory
Platoon
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket

Although there could be a huge debate about what defines a war movie. To me Braveheart doesn't quite qualify. I'm sure arguments could be made that parts of the Terminator, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings series could classify as war movies. I probably should define what my guidelines are for a movie to fall into the war genre, but I'm about to go to bed, perhaps I will revisit.

Thumbs up

Apocalypse Now
Assembly (look in my collection for it)
Das Boot
Letters From Iowa Jima
Patton
Pearl Harbor, ONLY for the Pearl Harbor attack sequence.
Saving Private Ryan, just for the D-Day invasion sequence.

I didn't list it because it's not a "movie", but it sure beats 90% of non-documentary war material out there.

Nope, not kidding at all, but I'm not going to start a debate. The thread will end-up being ruined. There have been hundreds of posts debating that movie ad nauseum. That's just my opinion on it.
