Hello i'm new to this site and to the whole Blu ray scene i like the site a lot,, there's a lot of info and everyone seems to be nice and answer all questions
so here's my newbie question i just bought my dynex 42 inch 1080 and a magnavox blu ray player, transformers on blu ray but when the movie is playing there is a lot of bad pixels like in the dark areas of the movie and basically all around!!! Why is that i didn't get them before on my 32 inch 720. is it the hdmi cable or the tv? any help would be great thanks

Welcome to the site!

Tons of knowledge to be found here.

spoonracer - Could possibly be some calibration/settings with TV and/or player. It definitely does not sound normal. Are you running with HDMI straight from the player to the TV?

Welcome spoonracer1320 and pattinsonrobert to Blu-ray.com! Hope you both enjoy your time here and that you'll become regular contributors in the forums.

I would suggest calibrating your TV and making sure that all of your settings in both the TV and BD player are correct. It is possible that you may have a defective HDMI cable, although if it's the same one you used on your 32", I would doubt that is the cause. Read through both manuals to see if there is anything you may have missed regarding your setup. Use a process of elimination before thinking there is something wrong with one of your components or connections. Speaking of which, try reseating your HDMI connections and go from there.

John

PS~ To the real experts here (and I'm thinking Rob J in WNY), can you elaborate more? Is the HDMI version # (1.0, 1.1, 1.3) a possible issue here?
