Default bookshelf or tower

i am debating on purchasing a set of new paradigm titan bookshelf speakers for my fronts. i currently have a set of polk tsi400's right now. now i only sit 8 feet away from my front soundstage. is it better to go with a bookshelf on a stand vs. towers since i sit so close? am i getting all i can get out of the towers being that close? i just heard the titans and am loving the way paradigm speakers sound! {the signature series were the best i have heard to date}

If you have one or two good quality subwoofers, get the bookshelf speakers. With modern receivers and their ability to do complete bass management and auto calibration, tower speakers are no longer as important. The key is two good subwoofers placed in the right position in the room. If I were in your position and had only one subwoofer, I would buy the bookshelf speakers and invest the rest of the money on a second subwoofer.
