I'm not talking about listening to the radio while driving to work or at home while washing the car or doing your homework. I'm talking about honest to god sitting (or lying) down with a good pair of head phones and actually LISTENING to music, paying careful attention to the performances, the production, the vocals, etc. How many of you still do that? I know for those of us who are older, it's easy in our busy lives to allow music to just be something we listen to incidentally while we do other, more "important" things. I'm just curious as to how many of you still set aside time to really listen to music. To make THAT the event unto itself and not just something you do casually while doing other things.
For those who cannot honestly answer "yes" to this question let me encourage you to set aside time, even if it's just a couple of times a week. For one it's a GREAT stress reliever. Also I think you will re-discover your love for music all over again if you allow yourself to really focus on nothing else but listening. |
