why is it taking so long to come out every site i have been to just says dec but no date

The movie is still doing well at the box office (finally dropped out of top 10 this past weekend) so they are delaying an announcement. Regardless of when it is announced it is expected in December.

Dude, it's still in theaters. Look for it this holiday season on home video, just like every other summer movie.

I did not know it's still showing. I only heard good things about this movie. Maybe I'll catch it this weekend when I go on vacation.

The Hangover is currently the highest grossing, "R"-rated comedy of all-time.

It says Dec because you have other studios that are planning to release their big titles in the same month. Major titles expected in Dec are Harry Potter, Night at the Museum 2, Terminator Salvation, G.I. Joe, and G-Force. Usually you try to avoid going against another big box-office title that is the same genre as your title.

Obviously it's the biggest comedy of the year and other stuidos will try to avoid whatever date they choose. My best guess would be the first week of December. They could suprise everyone though and release it the week of Black Friday.

i think it got pushed back in the US because how good its doing i found a site that said it was origanaly set for sep 15 link http://www.eyecrave.net/dvd-bd/dvd-b...y-release-date

Now says Dec 1 2009

I'd expect it this november. Same with Potter. I'd guess Potter would be November 17th. But I have no idea. Apatow always has his comedy come out in december. So why compete?

Because The Hangover is going to make more than three times what Funny People makes, so there is no reason to fear that as competition.

Hangover without a doubt wants to be on a week of its own. It doesn't want to come out the same week as transformers 2, hp or anything else that attaches big names and funny people has big names attached.

Because it is the most profitable movie of 2009. It's production cost was only $30 million, and its domestic take so far is over $260 Million with "longer legs" than any other movie this year.

It isn't going to get a week of it's own if it comes out in November or December. Those months usually have at least 2 big movies coming out every week, especially December.

You make a good point but they without a doubt want to be the lead release of the week. And by lead release I mean, being featured in all the weekly ads in more areas than just the new movie release page. For instance, the Best Buy ad will show the big weekly release on all the TV's in their weekly ad. That is a big plus for the movie.

True, as long as they avoid Harry Potter, Up and Transformers they should be fine.

At that time of year, people are shopping and buying things regardless... I think they'll be alright as long as they don't drop the same week as another comedy.

I would easily buy Transformers 2 and The Hangover, as they are both different genres.

During the holidays people to spend more and buy more things but studios can't be ignorant that the economy could have an affect on a lot of peoples purchasing habits. Where some parents would buy 5 movies for their kid they might only by 2 or 3 now.
