Default Polyphony hard at work on Gran Turismo 5

French JOY-PAD magazine visits Polyphony Digital.

I haven't seen an English translation of this unfortunately but you can see the internals of a couple of cars, considering the high level of detail there's got to be a driver's-eyes view in GT5.

I've been looking at screenshots of how much worse the work-in-progress GT2000 looked compared to GT3. To me GT HD still looks and feels closer to reality than all the competition, but GT5's going to blow that away. You could say I'm a little excited to see what's shown at Sony Computer Entertainment's E3 press conference.

French gaming mag Joypad landed an exclusive interview with Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi in their June edition, and with that interview they squeezed out some juicy information regarding the next release of GT, including a frequently asked for damage system.

In regards to the cars…
All cars from Gran Turismo 4 will be in Gran Turismo 5, in addition to all Ferrari and F1 cars.
There will be downloadable cars and tracks.
The cars will take and show damage.
You, as the user, will have your choice of 4 driving views.
Plus,
There will be new city tracks.
There will be online multiplayer, with 12-20 users being able to participate any one online race at a given time.
The weather can and will change, on some tracks, as your driving through them.

Default Input devices for GT5

Does anyone have any opinions or recommendations for input devices for GT5, such as stearing wheels, pedals, or even entire arcade style enclosed cockpits?

Thanks,

Zotar

I'm sure an official wheel manufactured by Logitech or Sony will be shown much nearer to release.

GT4 was great. One of the few PS2 games that does 480p.

Maybe if you read about WHY they scrapped online play in GT4 you'd realise it won't be a problem with the PS3.

GT4 could do 1080i also. I think the only PS2 game to do that.

They called Kaz 'Razunori Yamauchi' in the M6 turbo vid.

That was also the best looking game car-dashboard I've seen.

Polyphony did a closed Japanese online test with a modified version of GT4 in preparation for GT5. Mark my words: GT5 is online. And when Polyphony do a feature, they don't do it by halves.
