Default What Are your favorite Westerns?

I won't do a poll because something will always be left off. I would like to know what are your favorite Westerns and why you like them or not like them. Do you consider Samurai films westerns? Do you prefer more liberal films like High Noon or do you prefer the "John Ford" type western? Please discuss...

Well, I'm young and haven't seen a lot of the classics, but so far my favorites are: Wyatt Earp, Unforgiven, Seraphim Falls, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, 3:10 to Yuma, and IIRC, I liked Open Range, although it's been a while and I need to see it again.

And what's the one where Clint Eastwood spits on everything? Lol that was an awesome movie, though I only saw that once and it was years ago.

EDIT: Outlaw Josey Whales, I need to rent that again

Hard to list just five, but they are:

1. Outlaw Josey Wales
2. The Sackets
3. Dances With Wolves
4. Jeremiah Johnson
5. The Cowboys

Honorable mention to Rio Bravo, Tombstone, Big Jake, Death Hunt, The Legend of the Golden Gun, and Lonesome Dove.

Tombstone and Silverado are my favorites. I also like Wyatt Earp and Open Range alright. I was disappointed with 3:10 to Yuma because I didn't like the ending.

Give it another shot. I was actually the same way, and didn't care for it much. But I watched the movie again, and I liked it a lot more.

I liked the movie except for the ending. I've heard that in the original version of the movie
[Show spoiler]Dan Evans didn't die in the end.
I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to change that in the new version.

Default Not my genre

Not really into westerns but if you look at my films, you'll know that I have good movie taste. With that being said, my favorite westerns would have to be The Great Silence and Once upon a time in the West along with The Proposition.

Here are some of my favorites:

Tombstone
Unforgiven
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
3:10 to Yuma
Outlaw Josey Wales

Some others that I like that I'd loosely call Westerns:

Maverick
Young Guns
The Apple Dumpling Gang (haven't seen it in many, many years but I liked it as a kid anyway)
Shanghai Noon
Hidalgo

I like and own these:

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
Unforgiven
Tombstone
Silverado
3:10 to Yuma

I also enjoy most of the Eastwood Westerns particularly Pale Rider for some reason

I'm sure there are plenty of other good ones but I haven't seen them to comment.
