Default Possibly one of the worst Wal-Mart Blu-ray display's.

I was in a Wal-Mart this morning and this display is pretty bad, they are place holders that are in multi-colored slim DVD covers, with Photocopied paper inserts. Notice all of the missing placeholders? I asked the rep who was working there if that means they are sold out of that particular title, and he stated no that they just ran out of DVD covers...nice. Plus the sign reads blu-ray DVD's...

Any other's that have witnessed some pretty bad displays?

My Wal-Mart has them hidden next to some X360 accesories. I saw about 15 slots for Blu's.

That's how they were, before they went this route, but the were locked up in an endcap case with the overflow of Xbox 360/PS3 games. There were no prices and they were just randomly put throughout the case. I wish I had got a picture of that because that was pretty bad too...

That is a small collection of Blu's at your Wal-Mart, definately not worth a trip there on release day huh?

Looks like they have a theft problem and they are using display boxes. I saw it at one store before and asked where the movies were and that was the explanation I got. It was a very small store and I cant remember where I even was.

Luckily all my local stores have nice and well stocked blu sections

One of my two locals stores has exactly the same set-up which, believe it or not, is an improvement over their previous "display" that saw all of the BDs in a locked end-cap lying on their sides in stacks in no particular order. When I first saw the new display it struck me as looking like a Mom and Pop video rental store.

My other store, which had 3/4 of an aisle of BDs in one of the new layouts introduced by WM in 2008 has now reduced their stock by approx 50% and locked everything behind glass.

I guess one the biggest problems with growth in the format's popularity is that more buggers want to steal them!

Sanford, FL on Reinhart next to the BB right?

From my other post...

I think we are talking about the exact same Wal-Mart...

I was going to hazzard a guess at your location, but thought that would be too much of coincidence!

The one on 17/92 near the 417 is considerably better, in spite of being in arguably a worse area.

That is too darn funny!
What are the odds huh? Here was the give away that led me to believe we were talking about the same store...

Actually the closest wal-mart is worse than the pic the OP posted. I'd take that selection compared to mine.

Anyway, I have 6 stores around town and their selections has better variety.

im pretty sure thats 'working as intended' or in this case 'displayed as intended' because every walmart bluray section i've seen is the same if not worst than that.

That is probably the worst Blu-ray display I've ever seen, so I'd agree with the OP.

About the sign reading "blu-ray DVDs" — I think that is fine, as a DVD is (or can be considered) and all-encompassing term for any digital video disc. Then again, you could easily argue that "DVD" is specific to discs with red laser technology as well. If it were my store, I wouldn't make the sign that way, and I never call it "Blu-ray DVD" just so I don't confuse those who might get confused.

The main error in the sign that I see is the lack of capitalization of the "b" in "blu-ray" since it is a proper noun by way of trademark. There are people on this site who cringe at the misspelling of Blu-ray, but it doesn't really bug me all that much. I do notice it all the time, though.

That is really odd...I agree with Jwbbud that it's for security purposes. I've seen Walmart's in Florida that have everything locked up just like video games. I guess it depends on how bad of an area you are in.

Hell, I'd just be happy if my local WM's had that many bd's. Their selection around here is crap.
