Looking to upgrade Blu-ray player - Blu-ray Forum

I currently have a Panasonic DMP-BD30 and was looking to upgrade to something better. I'm going to say no more then $500, but ovb the cheaper the better. If there is a real good quality player for roughly $300, then tell me! Thanks

On another forum, they recomended the Oppo BDP83. Is that a good choice or is there any other suggestions?

The Oppo is an excellent choice MAD7334! For the money you won't find a better player! Their customer service is also excellent! I know, because I have their DV-981H player and have had to ask them a few questions, to which they responded very quickly.

I have seen from various members on here, that Oppo is indeed a good brand to consider for an upgrade. My personal player is a PS3 slim, but it too has it's issues. For instance, it sometimes suffers audio dropouts when bitstreaming after pausing. A minor inconvenience that can be solved, but it's still there.

One thing that I can say with confidence, from posts I've seen here, is avoid Samsung players. They seem to be inconsistent in their performance.

I would have to recommend the OPPO as well. It is an excellent player.

I also have the Panasonic DMP-BD60 which is a good choice as well. I think that if you want fast FW upgrades, a great all around player, and wonderful customer service, spend the extra cash and grab the OPPO.
