This is wierd, but for the last few months or so I've been getting cable over my Antenna. It's only about the first 50 channels or so, and it's got a lot of static. I can watch ESPN, Disney, Sci-Fi, and almost every single one from 25-50 clearly. The lower ones around 4-20 are almost unwatchable. When it first happened I checked every single place cable comes in to see if maybe the apartment complex I was in had a deal where everybody got basic cable, but none of them are hooked up.
The only thing I can think is I am getting a leak from the box right outside my wall where they have a line in for this side of the complex and about 30 lines out to the individual apartments. The odd thing though is this only happened recently as if there's a loose wire or something, but the cable guy has messed with the box a few times since I've been here, so I would figure they would notice something very obvious. The nice thing, my local OTA channels come in crystal clear on my other TV in the bedroom off a 50ft extension cable, so I get my local channels in HD, and I've got the static for my cable channels in the living room for everything else. The cool thing is I don't really watch any shows that aren't on the channels I receive. |

My wife and I rent a house where the cable is still working over 4 years later... we've never seen a bill.

Yeah, oddly this happened to me about for about 3 years until I moved out, back in 1999 we had gotten a cable box and we cancelled it and unplugged it from the tv. About a year later, the box was just sitting in the entertainment stand collecting dust. I unplugged it and took it up to my room and all of the sudden, all the channels were coming in. I mean even the PPV were coming in. I did not have a cable descrambler to get them illegally. All I had was just the coaxial hooked in from the wall to the box and then another from the box to the vcr. It was awesome.
