Default Any Good Recc for a small HDTV?

I was thinking of replacing my Toshiba CRT (13") kitchenette tv with a flat screen. Best Buy has DYNEX for $149 and I saw COBY mini TV's for cheap also. I plan to do the same indoor antenna on the mini (KOWATEC) that I have on the Big TV.

Not sure: do the smaller TV's (16", 19.5 " and 21" diag) have the capabilities to accept an antenna for OTA reception since I no longer plan to EVER have cable ever again?

No need to have a Blu-ray player in the the tv in the kitchen, just a monitor
with a cheap speaker.

Thumbs down 13" HDTV or thereabouts!!!

Best advice... don't bother, at 13" or therabouts it's not worth going HD. You'll just be wasting money.

I disagree with that, at least for 19-22". It'll be in a small area, probably being watched from rather close, so anything in that range should be fine. A 1080p HDTV in that range would be a waste of money though. I have a 22" Samsung LCD and the HD PQ is far better than both the 19" CRT it replaced and the 27" CRT still in the basement.

As to the questions: I've never seen the Dynex or Coby and don't know their quality. But any TV (not just a monitor, an actual TV) can be hooked up to an antenna, and anything sold now in the U.S. has to have a digital tuner, so that won't be a problem, provided your area (and placement in the room) gets good reception, just like the old days. Except now you can get HD broadcasts and the extra digital channels that your local stations provide.

Thanks for that input. The question is so naive that I wasn't expecting
many responses.

The area is small and the distance is sort of close but the big bulky CRT
is getting to be an eyesore and the HD tiny TV is what I was looking for.

I guess if I stick with the brand names - Sharp,Samsung, Sony I can't go too wrong. Don't forget a 19-22 incher is still rather small since the picture is measured diagonally and the height of the picture is NOT anywhere near 19".

True, my 22" is not as tall as the 19" CRT it replaced, but it is wider. As a reference, my 27" CRT is only about 16.25" tall. It's just the difference between the ratios 16:9 and 4:3. I'd stick with the major brands to be safe, but they can screw up too.

Default Thought I'd share this.. about DYNEX

http://www.dynexproducts.com/c-23-televisions.aspx

I wonder where they're from? Is it a Low Cost Samsung or Panasonic .?
or a division of VIZIO? Exclusive at Best Buy.
