Default TMNT Re-Shelled Out Now

Quote:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled

Press Release PROVIDED BY GAMES PRESS

SAN FRANCISCO – June 1, 2009 – Ubisoft today announced that it will be releasing a downloadable game inspired by one of the most acclaimed arcade games of all time – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. A side-scrolling, four-player action brawler based on the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled will kick off the Summer of Arcade, and release on July 22 worldwide exclusively on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and later this year on the PlayStation®Network.

“Given that this is the 25th anniversary ‘shell-ebration’ of the creation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property we’re delighted to partner with Ubisoft to release an updated version of the hugely popular Turtles in Time arcade game,” said Gary Richardson, CEO of Mirage Studios. “The Turtles have fans of all ages, and we’re excited to bring the game back to the long-time fans, as well as introduce Turtles in Time to a new generation of gamers.”

"We're excited to rekindle the enthusiasm for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time arcade classic with Ubisoft’s enhanced downloadable version," said Careen Yapp, vice president of licensing and business development at Konami. "The TMNT brand is world renowned and we will continue our commitment to support the endeavor in bringing the next downloadable addition to the franchise to Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network players around the globe.”

“It has been a ton of fun working with Mirage on the TMNT brand, beginning back in 2007 in conjunction with the release of the CGI Turtles film,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “We’re definitely ‘shell-ebrating’ the 25th anniversary in style, starting with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled and continuing with the release of an entirely new Turtles’ game – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Smash-Up – later this year.”

Originally released as an arcade game by Konami in 1991, Turtles in Time became Konami’s bestselling arcade title, hailed for its adherence to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles material. The upcoming re-release will feature updated graphics, but it will stay true to the original feel of the arcade game.

TMNT fans will be able to play an early version of the game by visiting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Bus during its national tour. The Party Bus has begun a cross-country 10-city tour that will include playable kiosks of the game, TMNT memorabilia and interactivity for all to enjoy. Check out www.tmnt25.com for exact schedule and details.

It would be cool if they included the original 16-bit graphic version with it. Also, how about the 1st arcade version? That was a great game too. Especially the NES version which had 2 extra boards.

The fist arcade game was an unlockable extra on the 6th Gen TMNT game based on the new Ninja Turtles show. Played just like the old with up to 4, but the music was tampered with.

I don't really know for sure, but I'm pretty sure it'll be released somewhere between late September and right before Christmas. Still don't know, thats just my prediction.

Wikipedia has a date for November... but well, you know... it's wikipedia...

I just hope the price is not too high, reviews on the 360 version were not favorable in the sense that they didn't really improved the game that much to justify the high price it was released for.

400 Microsoft points = $5, so it was 800 MS points and that equals to $10.
