Default Managed to snag a Polk CS2

Well, ended up with a winning bid for a CS2, black. Still working on the 60's. After watching some of the bidding, I might suck it up and buy new from newegg...the cherry finish are $120 a piece/free shipping.

Getting excited, but I still need to buy the 60's, order some wire, and figure out how I'm going to sneak the bottom line past the boss.

Hey acritzer, make sure you order your speaker wire from Monoprice, best prices around.

The prices on NewEgg are actually some of the lowest they have been. If I were you, I'd take advantage of the prices and get the 60's now. But that is me.

And as far as getting all that past the wife......you're on your own with that one...

I have a little history on small deceptions Not that I feel all that good about it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I might just go ahead with the new 60's, cherry for 120 each. Or, I have a bid in on some black 60's...if that pans out I'll stick with them.

Agghh, why did you show me that? Mine was just a bit more...while on coupons, do you have one for the 60's? Either black or cherry?

When did you order your CS2? if it was in the last day or so, I'd Def. CALL THEM to see if they can HONOR the Discount Code above. Usually they've been pretty good with this type of situation. They May have had a deal on the Monitor 60 but I'm not sure if it was a Pair or SINGLE. I had the email with the info (coupons/sales) but no longer; sorry.

I picked it up from Polkaudiodirect, through ebay. Just a tiny bit more expensive after shipping. Not too worried about it. I did find EMCMLMT36 that works for the 60's in black, at 112.99. If I lose out on my current bid, I'll go with that.

I know it's going to be an improvement over my current setup...how much is the question. I hoping it will be a pleasant surprise in quality. Otherwise it might look like a needless upgrade to the wife.

Well, got out bid on the refurbished set, so I picked up a new one for less than the auction price. Works out well...now, order some wire from monoprice. Any suggestions? Distance is only about 6-8 feet on the long side.

Looks like they have 16 awg in stock, but not 14...at least at the length I want. Should I look elsewhere? Or, is 16 OK?

Woops, nevermind. I found the 50' length, got mixed up because there was some for in-wall, and some that wasn't.

16AWG will work for shorter distances. For a run of only 6 to 8 feet like you mentioned, the 16AWG will be fine.

Does the cs2 qualify as a large or small speaker when adjusting the receiver settings? I would think small, but just checking. Also I would assume the monitor 60's would be large?

Set BOTH to Small, that way your Receiver won't think it has to work as hard to power LARGE Speakers -- Trust me; your Receiver will do just fine. Most here will agree - I've had my CS2, & front T90e's for a while now & my Rec'vr handles them Just fine.

Okay will do. I didnt realize it would change the receivers power usage. Just thought it was for bass. I have a sub as well so that should stay good.
