Default Needing a speaker setup for my PS3....

QUESTION: What is the ideal situation for a simple setup with the PS3/Computer Monitor audio set up? Plugging in via an audio jack (the green one). I have a setup now but I'm going to be getting rid of it because it's just pumping out way too much heat.

I have no television, but I do have a 24" 1080P Acer Monitor.

I have that connected to my PS3 via the HDMI. All of this is sitting out in the open on a table at the end of my bed, in the corner.

Now there's no audio from the monitor alone, but there's an audio jack on the back, so I have plugged into THAT, this baby:

Now. This is my issue.

I have the subwoofer on the floor, and the ...receiver or whatever it is behind and to the side of the PS3.

The two speakers or behind the monitor.

The problem is the receiver, or whatever it is, pumps out an UNGODLY amount of heat. So much that I don't even have to turn on my heater in my apartment, because this thing heats up the room pretty quick, in combination with the PS3 Slim and the monitor.

Well I was playing last night (a PSN game, not a disc) and the PS3 Slim shut off and the red light was blinking. I panicked but apparantly it was just overheating because the Ps3 was VERY hot.

I don't keep the PS3 on overnight, but it's on pretty much all day. Within 20 minutes or so it's hot after turning it on and playing.

So I was wondering this:

Is the receiver pumping out all that heat, is that affecting the PS3 and causing it to get hot as well, and then shut down? Last night was the first time it's done that since I bought it.

It's probably a combination of the receiver/control thing and the PS3. I would say try moving if possible, them apart as far as you possibly can and see what happens.
