Default Any Ideas On Where To Get Decent Value For Standard DVDs

I have upgraded to Blu Ray and am starting to build a nice collection. I am at the point where I am buying movies that I already own on regular DVD. So, naturally I want to get rid of these movies. Whenever I want to sell one, wether it is EBay or Half.com or any place on the net that buys used DVDs - I run into extremely unfair pricing. Some are trying to get 0.75 cents a DVD??? Does anyone have any sites or ideas on what I can do with all my old movies?

You can try on the net

DVDPlanet or Wherehouse

There is also Ebay where you can usualy get better prices I think but I have never tried there.

I have use DVDPlanet, I find it perfect for my needs

I would suggest either trying to sell them in a yard sale or taking them to a retailer like FYE that sales used movies and music.. They will sometimes give around $3-$5 per DVD depending on the condition, how old it is and how many they have on hand. It's not much but there are really no other alternatives.

I'd just give them away to charity.

You can also try Second Spin or Amazon.

Unfortunately the prices will be the same where ever you try unless you can sell them off yourself to people that you know or at local flea markets and garage sales...

I have sold many of my replaced DVDs to people I know, mostly by posting lists on Facebook, and usually charge $5 per standard DVD/movie, and $15 or so for a season of a TV series. I only replace the DVD once I've already bought the Blu, so getting anything feels like I'm saving money. Then, I take the money I got for the DVD and put it aside, and when I have enough money to buy a new Blu, I feel like I'm trading in movies that I already own on Blu for new movies that I don't.

I used to sell mine on Amazon, but lately the going prices for used DVDs has made me stop selling them. Going through the trouble of listing them, packaging them, and then mailing them when I'll only make $3-$5 per DVD is just not worth my trouble. I'm going to give them to friends or charity.

I guess this is another good sign that more people are moving up to BD, eh?

I've given some to my family but most I trade in at a local place calle Disc Exchange. They give decent trade-in value and carry used Blu, so its a win-win deal for me.

You could try the year 2001.

seriously, you are better off giving them away to friends and family that might care.

Many have mentioned FYE, there are local chains in different regions that often give slightly (but not amazingly better rates). Bookmans is here in Arizona, Aomeba is in California.

If I don't give them away to family I usually sell them to friends or a yard sale for 2.00- 3.00 bucks a pop. Do you have a "Movie Trading Company"? If I dont sell them I usually trade them in for store credit (you get more credit that cash) and I just use that towards blu rays. Unless you have something rare or OOP you wont get more than a couple two or three bucks anywhere at most. Check all "Anchor Bay" dvd's you have because the OOP ones sell at very good prices.

I've used DVD Planet. It's kind of a pain to pack them up and ship them but I think the prices they give you are higher than most. DVD Planet also doesn't pay for shipping, but if you ship by media mail, it's not that much.

$2 is a ripoff lol.

I'd suggest a yard sale or ebay but good luck. I've been unsuccessful with selling my DVD's.

I've used Amazon Marketplace quite a bit, I like it better than ebay because they don't charge you fees until your item actually sells, sold a lot of DVDs on there.
