Default Question: Will standard DVDs still be manufactured?

We don't have high definition anything. We do have a standard DVD player. Will they continue to manufacture plain old standard DVD's or will those be discontinued? Husband is frantic thinking we will have to replace all of our dvd movies and not be able to buy new ones

Dvd's will be available for years to come. No worries. It's a great time to buy a Bluray player though.

DVDs will be around for quite a while, but will slowly start to lose popularity and production.

But you won't have to run out and replace your entire collection.

ALso don't forget that when you are ready to move over to the blu side, you can also play your standard dvd's ina blu-ray player. I have a HUGE collection of SD movies that I wont be replacing (except the ones I REALLY like) and my player upconverts them wonderfully. keep in mind going high def. was one of the best purchases I ever made... It's been 1.5 years and I am still amazed on occasion.
