Question AMZ QP discounts on existing pre-orders?

If you have a movie pre-ordered and it shows up in your quick picks,

a) do I have to cancel my original order and order it again to get the discount? Or will it be automatically applied to my existing order?

b) does it have to be the exact same format as the pre-ordered item or can DVDs and BDs be considered the same? For example, if pre-ordered the BD version and I get a QP for the DVD version of the same movie, would I get a QP discount on my BD order?

Thanks.

A) Since Quick Picks are different for each person I doubt they will automatically PM one for you on pre-order... Fastest way to get the price is cancel the pre-order and order it again... It's faster and saves Amazon the time of sifting through thousands of PM's from the same people who ask for a price adjustment every 2 hours until they get it...

B) No you can not get a PM for a DVD price on a BD...

re a) never meant to PM another person's QP, just my own. If I should get a QP for the same exact item (movie title, version, UPC code, etc.) that I had previously pre-ordered but it has not been released yet...

re b) not looking to PM the same price, just to get the 5% QP discount. Would the 5% discount transfer from one product type (DVD) to another type (BD) for the same basic item (movie title). Obviously I can not PM the price of a DVD and apply it to the BD. If we could do that, AMZ would be losing money hand over fist from members on this forum.

A) Yes to the first question.

B) Every format is considered unique and discounts do not apply across formats.

Thanks. For some reason AMZ always gives me QP for the DVD versions of the movies I pre-order in BD format. Seems kind of evil to me... For example, currently have pre-ordered Public Enemies on BD and today I got the DVD version in my QP. I wonder if I pre-order the DVD version next time would they QP me the BD version?

I have never liked that about Amazon. There should be a way to entirely block a format like dvd from your recommendations.

What I meant was their system can't adjust your presell based on a quoted price from your QP... It's technically not a sale discount because not everyone is offered that movie for that price... Either a PM or cancel/reorder would give you that price (the 2nd would be easier on both ends)...

Yeah I know how you feel. Every time I update my recommendations I have to decide if I want to keep on getting the DVD versions or block all versions of the same title. I have e-mailed AMZ several times about this asking this if I can block only a single format for the same movie and still get offers for the other formats. While they thanked me for my suggestion, they said it was not possible to do. Not possible = do not want to change that feature I guess. Should be easy enough to put that extra filter in their database but I guess they do not see any advantages like we do.
