Ok maybe the question sounds kind of stupid but I have never looked into dipoles much. Is the goal of dipole to get great dispersion across the back of the room? I was looking at some ways to enhance my surround stage and was looking at these :
http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Sur...262600&sr=8-15 I notice both sides have tweater(s) but the mid/woofer is only pointing inwards / one direction. Doesn't this mess up the sound? I realize high end is more directional but a woofer on a speaker like this is still going to be carrying a bit of mid range so wouldn't it also benefit from being on both sides like the tweater? I mean how effective are these if you are not sitting in the sweet spot? |

Yea, I was lucky enough to get some of the last WHITE FXi3's, if not the FXi3's in general. The 4's are 99% the Same speaker Specs wise, just a Tiny bit different cosmetically ($279/pair, vice $175/pr for the 3's). So yea, if you don't mind waiting, maybe they'll go down a bit or the 3's might show up between now & then. I LOVE my 2 pair; for use as Side & Rear Surrounds, I have No complaints - They sound Superb!!

What gear do you have? I don't see anything listed (?). But I can see where you're coming from. If you can wait & really want to Upgrade your AVR, it makes sense. Thru Jessica at POLK, I picked up my 2 prs' for $375 Total (including $25 shipping). They Look gorgeous & Sound great. Good luck in your search either way.

Upgrading the front 3 was a huge improvement and I could be content for a while, but I've gotten that itch for just one (or two) more goodies. Because my couch is on the back wall, I thought bi or di-poles would be a big help for surround sound. Under $200 would be good for me. I also see the need for a new receiver, but I can't really stomach the price right now. Chances are I'll just sit on it for now and see what develops over the next few months. |
