Default Walmart: $50 gift card with purchase of Nintendo Wii (Dec. 5-12)

From Kotaku:
Quote:
From December 5th through the 12th, the company will be offering a $50 gift card good for anything Walmart carries (just about everything) with purchase of a Nintendo Wii.

Along with the Wii offer, Walmart is also discounting a group of popular 2009 titles by $10 until December 24th. Titles like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Left 4 Dead 2 for the Xbox 360, or Tekken 6 for the 360 and PS3. You know what? I'll just drop you all a list. Happy shopping.

Lego Rock Band (Wii) - now $40
Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics (Wii) - now $40
MySims: Agents (Wii) - now $40
Rock Band: Beatles (Wii) - now $40
WWE 2010 (Wii) - now $40

Madden 2010 (Xbox 360 and PS3) - now $50
Tekken 6 (Xbox 360 and PS3) - now $50

Dragon Age: Origins (PS3) - now $50
Uncharted 2 (PS3) - now $50

Batman Arkham Asylum (Xbox 360) - now $50
Halo 3:ODST (Xbox 360) - now $50
Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360) - now $50
WWE 2010 (Xbox 360) - now $50
The Walmart near me has discounted some of the listed software titles, so that much I can confirm. The only question I need to ask myself now is: should I take the plunge?

Default (12/6 - 12/12) Wal-Mart: $50 Gift Card w/ Nintendo Wii Purchase

I had been holding off on buying a Nintendo Wii, but I may just pull the trigger this week, as Wal-Mart is giving a $50 gift card with purchase. They also have 12-month no interest financing for purchases over $299; shouldn't be too hard given the Wii is $200.

Edit: Didn't realize the deal started next week.

I think the add stated 'minimum 4 per store' or something like that. Definitely a great deal if you want a Wii, but you better get to the store early and wait in line (I did this a couple weeks ago for an XBOX 360 +$100 gift card deal). I was able to get in on the Wii + Wii Fit Plus on Amazon a while back where they gave you a $50 Amazon credit. Saved me standing in line...

I remember that deal, and the line was HUGE that morning! I went for an XBox360 and left when I saw the line. I was really surprised at the turnout, especially given it was the morning of a local college football game (which is a huge deal here).

Even more surprising though, is that I do not think this applies to the Wii scenario. I have been seeing Wiis scattered everywhere: Best Buy, Target, and I just called Wal-Mart and the guy in the entertainment dept said he can see at least 20 on the floor and that there are over 20 in the back (!). I think that is because everyone who has been wanting a Wii already has one by now.

Default Nintendo Wii @ $150

Sort of: Starting this Saturday, while supplies last, Walmart will start selling the the Wii for $199, but will throw in a $50 gift card. This may be available online where you can use it with a Bing CashBack ...

Best case scenario is getting the Wii online for $171 + shipping after 20% bing cashback and you'll have a $50 gift card!!

If you honestly believe that will happen, are you up for a friendly wager?
$50 says this will not come to pass in 2010....

Rumor: Blu-ray Enabled Wii 2 in 2010
Posted October 29, 2009 05:15 AM by Juan Calonge

Gaming site Maxconsole.net, citing information leaked to Logic-Sunrise.com by a Nintendo France marketing employee, is reporting that a new Nintendo console will be launched worldwide in the third quarter of 2010. This "Wii 2" will reportedly get a Blu-ray drive, and support 1080p for games and movies.

An official announcement will reportedly happen just one month before launch date. In the intervening months, "huge publicity and viral marketing will be utilized to create buzz" (so this post is ultimately contributing to that, right? Damned if you do...).

Allegedly, there will be the option to trade in old Wii's for "Wii 2" consoles.

This rumor comes just after Nintendo's profit fell by more than half in the six months from April, hit by a slump in console sales (it sold 5.75m Wiis between April and September, far fewer than the 10m it shifted in the same period last year).

Some analysts are suggesting that a completely new console offers its best hope of reviving hardware sales.

Sony, on the other hand, has benefited from a reduction in the price of the PS3. "The price cut on the PlayStation 3 was effective because people are getting a high spec Blu-ray disc player for a good price," said Yusuke Tsunoda, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Securities.

Hmmm this is a decent deal. However, I'll wait for the rumored HD version.
