(Particularly as Will Ferrell more richly deserved it.)

At least it's refreshing to not see "Speed Racer" up there, as that one just got an unlucky break.
But it is nice to see "The Invasion" finally take its place among the pantheon, as the movie that singlehandedly killed off one of the most annoying horror trends of the decade for good and all.

I had no idea Pluto Nash cost $100 million to make and only took in 4.4 Domestic. Nor did I know five of Eddie Murphy's recent films lost more than $250 million
I've only seen one of those movies, The Spirit.

I Spy
Pluto Nash
The Haunted Mansion
Meet Dave
Imagine That

(Not sure whether "Showtime" is up there, and "Norbit" unfortunately made more money than it should have.)

The domestic gross for Land of the Lost was $49 million, not $65, which was the worldwide gross.

I don't look at movie revenue as an indicator of how good a movie is. In fact, sometimes its a negative indicator.

Transformers 2, one of the worst films ever, brought in TEN times the gross revenue of There Will be Blood, one of the best films ever.

the op is not asking what movies you think are rotten-- he's talking about
"flops" which is a term for movies that (usually) cost a lot of money to
make and lose millions in boxoffice (like this summers LAND OF THE LOST)

Exactly. You'd think it wouldn't be such a difficult concept to grasp for people.

They didn't say Golden Compass or Australia flopped, they said "But after 2002, her career went cold in the U.S. ("Stepford Wives," "Bewitched," "Australia" and "The Golden Compass")." While Golden Compass and Australia did decent worldwide, both were flops at the US box office. Australia earned $49.5 million in the US, and Golden Compass earned just over $70 million. In addition, people rarely count animated features when talking about a person's biggest movie, especially a movie like Happy Feet that had numerous famous people voicing character. Kids are going to see these movies regardless, and aren't going to hear Nicole Kidman or any other famous person's voice.

Yeah we do its called what we think is hollywood trash...who cares what the budget / box office receipts are.
For me the biggest flops this year are: Star Trek 2009, Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe. Clearly flops in my book

A nice top ten in reverse

Pluto Nash was a terrible flop, all the budget put into the movie with a return so low. Eddy Murphy had no choice then to hide behind the donkey character in Shrek for a few years after such a drop.

Of the 10 I can say I only enjoyed Catwoman, the movie was not very good but I did enjoy watching it. I found Haley Berry to be kind of cute in it, specialy at the start of the movie

It's too bad for Pluto Nash, the movie does have it's moment but it truly did bombed at the box office.

Oh man, I always love cinema elitists that feel the need to inform the world of what their favorite movies are by putting it in their sig so everyone knows they have such awesome taste in movies, and then storm around threads declaring what movies are trash, yet don't even know what the word "flop" means.

"The phrase box office bomb (also referred to as a flop) refers to a film for which the production and marketing costs greatly exceeded the revenue retained by the movie studio."

I know what a "bomb" or "flop" is.......technically speaking. I just listed three bombs (in my humble opinion) of the past year.
