Ps3 Slim with Sony Home Theater HTSS360 setup

I have a ps3 slim and a Sony home theater HTSS360 connected via HDMI. I just want to know if any one has this setup. I want to experience the dtshd and truehd. So what’s the best set-up on the ps3 slim audio bitstream or liner pcm? Thanks guys

I can give you a quick rundown, but thread police will redirect you to the thousands of posts that have gone over this already.

Basically, if the HT will process audio via HDMI then you will be able to hear the HD audio. The easiest way to do this is to set your audio to PCM so the PS3 decodes it. If you have HDMI audio capabilities and a player that decodes HD audio then you can send it bitstream for decoding on the HT. Use the display on the HT and PS3 to find out which is playing.

Theoretically, HD audio decoded into PCM by the PS3 should be exactly the same as audio bitstreamed for decoding in your HT player. The only definite difference is that bitstreaming HD audio will prevent you from hearing some PIP audio and sound effects on the BD menu.

So what you telling me is that I should set my ps3 slim to PCM. because my HT doesn't have truehd and dtshd build in. So i have to let my ps3 slim do all the work to send the truehd and dtshd to my receiver.

yes, the HT system you have doesn't support DD THD or DTS HD MA, so you will need to have the PS3 decode and send over the audio as LPCM.

thank you i will try this later on today... no wonder last night when i click select from my ps3 slim to see the audio format on the top corner it didn't say true hd or DTS MA
