Default Even if Blu-ray loses there will still be Blu-ray players (i.e. PS3)

I am thinking about picking up a Blu Ray player via PS3 got that Toshiba/Warner . I know my parents will say what if Blu Ray loses, (I asked my dad he didn't care) it's highly unlikley but we all have to face the facts that it is a remote possibility. Even if Blu Ray looses and your Blu Ray player breaks PS3's still have to include a Blu Ray player to play PS3 games. So if Blu Ray looses and you can not pick up stand alone players you will still be able to pick up a PS3 to play your Blu Ray movies. I checked IGN out and they have PS2 games going all the way back to 2000 and maybe before. If Blu Ray does in fact loose (I know that is blasphemous on this site, and will probably never happen) and the only way you can buy a Blu Ray player is in a PS3 it will probably still be going strong until 2015 if not longer if they have the same sucsess the PS2 had and still continues to have till this day. Where as if the HD DVD player dies most likely it will be the end of HD DVD players as we know them. Because Microsoft will probably get rights to make an Blu Ray player (add on) for the X Box 360.

I don't worry about blu-ray losing to HD-DVD, but rather that it won't be accepted by the general public. Player price needs to come down as well as disc prices.
Paramount has indefinatly postponed at least 3 releases now and i'm hopeing they are not getting discouraged over sales or pre-order numbers.

Cool

It was the smartest move ever by Sony to include blu-ray with PS3. That alone IMO guarantees Blu-ray's survival in this format war. If Microsoft would've included their hd player with the elite 360, it may have made things interesting, but they flubbed it. Blu-ray isn't going anywhere for a long time because eventually the PS3's install base will mirror what PS2's was.

Default Warner against PS3

PlayStation3 offers upconversion of standard def DVDs and a 1080p/24 output for less, and does a lot more. http://http://www.hometheatermag.com...rs/707sam1200/

and http://http://www.hometheatermag.com...on3/index.html

Why was the PS3 not counted as a Blu Ray player I am going to buy one primarly for the Blu Ray movies. Oh yeah I want Assasins Creed and Metal Gear Solid 4

I work at a Magnolia Home Theatre in Best Buy, and we can't keep panasonic or sony BD players in stock. The only reason we keep samsung in stock is because they send us so many. Good news for bluray. We sell like 3-4 a day.

Because of all the great reviews for the PS3 I almost see it as Sony made a Blu Ray player with gaming capabilities as an after thought. It was one of the best business dissisions that Sony ever made. Not to mention that the PS3 is the only Blu Ray/HD DVD player I know as of July,07 to have HDMI 1.3 capability.

That's great to read! And it is the slow summer period!

Seems the rest of the early adopter types are comfortable with the current situation and are starting to buy.

what 3 movies has paramount postponed? I knew of the one posted yesterday, flashdance, but that's all I heard of.
