PS3 blu-ray player vs Blu-ray players

Ok first of all, I'm planning on buying blu-ray player. Last night I was just researching on stuff about blu-ray players and I found out that PS3 blu-ray player is the best player out there. If this is true then it does not make any sense. PS3 costs $399 and some blu ray costs more than $399. Then what's the point of buying "just" blu-ray players if PS3 costs less and performs better? If I was a gamer then I'd obviously buy a PS3, but I'm not a gamer. I dont want to play games. I hate games. So what the heck?? Well my point is that whats the point of buying players that costs like 500 bucks if PS3 costs less and performs better?
