Best Buy or Amazon - Warranry BDP issue - Blu-ray Forum

So here is my dilema the player I am about to buy is regular 250 at Best Buy, currently on sale for 200 bucks. On Amazon the player is 180 free S&H no Tax.. but I cant get a warranty (the plan offered is not valid in Maine)... so here is my Q

is the Geek Squad protection from Best Buy worth it on a BD player? Can I buy a warranty from Sony after I get it form Amazon??

The warranty at Best Buy gives you the opportunity to get a different blu-ray player for that dollar amount. So if you paid $250.00 at BB you can get another blu-ray player for the same price...

what kind of damage and such will it cover and can I go up to 4 years like I did with my HDTV?

Is this particular player available at Costco? They offer a lifetime return on players. While I understand you may not have a Costco near you physically, this same return policy applies to their online store--and returns from online purchases can be done in retail.

Also, if you Amex to make the purchase, American Express will add a year to the original warranty. I am not sure about your need to make this purchase last four years, though.
