Default Is This Sony TV Worth It?

http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...n100473n100459

This is the tv I want to get. I should be getting my giftcard next week. This tv will cost me $898 with taxes Will be getting $140 3 years warrenty. I will be getting a giftcard from broken tv for $690. So It will cost me $400 out of my own pocket. This is the best TV at Zellers. where I have to get it from. From what I have read this tv is the better deal over the Toshiba. This TV will be a big step up for me. I have used this tv in store played with all the settings. And I am very happy with it. Never got to see HD content on it. I was just checking out the menus, settings, ect.

Would like to know from the pro's if it is worth it.

PS TV might be $100 cheaper when I go get it witch is a bouns.

Very nice, can't go wrong with that one. Check my HT gallery. My Sony is very close to that one.

Hi blurayjunkie...you will love that TV over your current one. I think Sony products are great and their customer service is equally good. One question is that TV 120hz or 60?
The 120hz is very important with lcd's TV's. My Sony is a KDL46VL160 much like yours.

After you get it I can share my calibration setting to help u with a starting point.

Good luck!

I hope you are not planning on paying $900.00+ on it. I just picked one up at Walmart on BF for $598.00 plus tax. They are advertised on Amazon, Best Buy and I beleive Sears right now for $719.00.

I have the KDL-40S5100 and it measures a total of 38 3/4 inches wide at the bezel...

Have no choice I have to use the giftcard and said store. With that said, do you like the tv? Does it have good blacks? Does SDTV look decent on it? How high is the TV in Inches? Reason I ask is I need to see if it is going to fit in the space I have for the tv

BRJunkie,
My apologies, should've payed closer attention to your original post.

The height of the TV is 25 inches. I recently mounted mine up on my bedroom wall with a Monoprice wall mount ($25.00) and am very happy with it.

I still need to get better calibration settings for it, but out of the box, the PQ is still excellent. I only have standard cable, but with the local HD channels the PQ is awesome. I am waiting for my Sony BD-S360 to arrive, so I can check out the HD content on it. As soon as I find some better settings, I'll be sure to share. GREAT TV SO FAR THOUGH.

PS: prior to purchasing, I was comparing the S series with the V series(120Hz) side by side at WM. The difference was noticeable, but not by much. Both had similar black levels(good but not great) and the colors were almost identical. The only obvious difference was with faster moving objects onscreen the V-series outperformed due to 120Hz...but the difference wasn't too noticeable.

Picked up this tv yesterday. I had a $677 giftcard. Got $90 taken off due to compairing prices with another store. Used an employee discount, because a family member works at the store I got the tv from. So I paied $120 for the tv and $150 for 3 years warrenty. out of pocket. Ended up paying $270 for this TV. Witch I think is a good deal. I watched one movie on it so far. SPEED blu-ray. It was great I turned on 24p true motion and it looks wonderful. Do any of you have this tv? does you have any good user settings interms of backlighting ect. It does looks good cranked up, but that will just burn is out faster right? is there a happy medium with it?
