Default Acoustic panels...can you paint them?

I'm doing some DIY Acoustic panels, and was wondering for WAF sake, can you paint a 'design' on top of the fabric? Or is there a specific fabric that we should be getting to cover them? My local fabric store has all sorts of fabric and would like some kind of attractive design...thanks!

as long as the fabric retains it properties (the paint not too thick, nor reflective coating), it should be just fine.

what counts is the contents of the said acoustic panel.

There are a few members who used fabric over their acoustic panels because of the WAF, so I know that option should work.

I'm not sure about painting fabric, but I just picked out a design that I liked and went with that. I got mine from IKEA

Its a little denser than I was hoping for, but it was the best aesthetic/funcionality compromise for me. I've taken them out of the room and I can definitely hear the difference. A more transparent fabric probably would have been a better choice sound-wise, but I definitely wanted them to look nice.

really nice set up by the way! love those speakers.. Is that an elite screen I see? What kind of projector do you have?

That is great, honestly best looking panels I've seen yet! The colors of your walls are originally what I wanted too, but the wife said it would be too dark

Thanks for the comments! No that is a cheap motorized Elunevision screen that I bought for the Optoma HD65, hoping to upgrade soon though

I used a fabric called Muslin for all mine. They are all very neutral light tan in color. I know it comes in white too, but have yet to find it in various colors.
