Unhappy Wild Hogs 2 Cancelled

Quote:
We're starting to wonder if recently promoted Disney studio boss Rich Ross carries a scythe around with him, given that he's just sent another developing film off into the afterlife. The latest victim? Wild Hogs 2: Bachelor Ride.

The sequel to 2007's unlikely hit was already gunning its engine to start shooting next year with John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H Macy all in negotiations to reprise their roles as middle aged friends who become biker buddies.

Disney had even ordered the first draft of the script, from original writer Brad Copeland, with new versions underway.

While no one at the studio is talking about exactly why it was shut down, a big part of it had to be the poor performance of the Travolta/Robin Williams comedy Old Dogs, which flopped into US cinemas last month.

This marks the third film Ross has put away, following 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea last month and another Robin Williams comedy, Wedding Banned just last week.

Given what we thought of the first Hogs outing, this just makes us wish we had the animatronic corpse from The Day Today, who kills his own killer via the electric chair and utters "justice!" using a pre-selected celebrity voice. We'd pick the Martin Sheen version.
Thoughts?

err, thank goodness.

I still think the critics came down harsh on Wild Hogs as it was quite an enjoyable film, but a sequel would of be s***

Sounds like Disney is really tightening up their shops. Its a good sign for the studio.

Whereas I enjoyed Wild Hogs, still haven't upgrade the dvd to blu, I don't think a sequel would have been any good. Hey how good are sequels usually?

OMG! I cant believe it. Wild Hogs was one of the best films of the past 10 years. How could they cancel a sequel to such a treasured film.
