Default QAM Tuner? DIgital cable?

My samsung hdtv has atsc and ntsc tuners. I dont think it has the qam tuner. i pick up hdtv channels fine. digital channels come in but a little scrambled. My cable company is moving towards just digital cable. So will my tv pick it up when it switches or will i need a box?

If your tuner can go higher than channel 69, you probably have some type of cable tuner built in and potentially have ClearQAM which is the unprotected version of QAM.

If you have full QAM support, there should be a smart card slot on the TV.

It really doesn't matter because often the cable company will want to push a set-top box on you anyway and most of them have HDMI output to go into your display.
