Default Concerts on Blu-ray & Video Resolution

Do you think concerts on Blu-ray should be shot and encoded with a high temporal resolution or a low temporal resolution for the video part of the encode?

edit: ie. high or low FPS (frame rate)

I had to look up what "temporal resolution" was as I've never heard of it before.

Anyway, I buy my concert BD's for the AUDIO, not the video, so I guess it doesn't matter to me.

Well, I try to go for both. Audio is definitely more important, but when the visuals are sharp then it's definitely a plus. I'm not sure what temporal resolution is either. I'm not that saavy into the tech side of the technology.

I mean high or low frame rate (FPS)
Video has a spatial resolution (pixels in a frame/field) as well as a temporal resolution (frame/field rate).

I only have one and its not bluray! It as filmed/videoed in HD 'Jarre In China' the first THX certified concert filmed in high definition
It looks okay as regular DVD and no I’m not buying the bluray I only watch it now and then and really the image looks nice and it sounds nice as well in Dolby and dts thou I use Dolby.

If it’s a new title of such and such then yes I’ll buy a bluray at the silly over priced cost but I’d sooner look for cheaper priced copy rather than just wasting money on the same title for the sakes of making someone else richer!

Basically the poll boils down to whether you prefer your concerts shot on video or film. I have seen good and bad examples of both types on Blu-ray. Lighting is always a little tricky and a critically forgotten aspect for most concerts.

Ah, ok I'm tracking now. It's like the difference between watching, say, AC/DC: Live at Donington or Christ Botti: Live with Orchestra and Friends. I think both are good examples of both formats, no?

Your spot on about the lighting as it tends to create weird colours that won’t show up on film but with video there are some issues.

I’d have to review Jarre In China again to see if its got the common issue I’m aware of, I’d be surprised if it didn’t.

Well you could record a concert on video at a high or low fps (temporal resolution), or reduce it in post from high to low too.
