Something weird happened with my PS3 Slim last night. I put in The Tudors 3 Disc 1, it booted up, but every time I tried to play an episode or click on Audio Set-up it would drop me back to the XMB. The night before, we watched the 1st episode and even changed the audio from 2.0 to 5.1. But now it won't play it. Has this ever happened to anyone else with their PS3?
BTW- BR and games play fine as well as some other DVDs I tried. ![]() Edit- Firmware is up to date, I checked the disc for scratches and smudges. Last edited by SillyMammo; 01-08-2010 at 02:53 PM. |

Many of the Tudor sets are defective. I had season 2 that did the same thing yours did and I heard of someone who tried to play them on a PS3 and got the same result. I just got season 3 and it is defective in the same way as well. I am returning it to Amazon. I was able to play season 2 by using the skip button on the remote.
I just found this on another forum: "For those who have Tudors and a PS3, I found this on another forum and it worked for me. Not the greatest way of doing it, but your discs will at least play the episodes. "I just found a workaround for my Tudor disk. Let it start up and play all episodes. Instead of going to the menu with square, hit triangle to pull up the PS3 menu. Choose the goto icon. Change the title to the episode desired on the bottom. It played the episode for me without problem. Wish they can fix whatever is causing these disks to bail out to the main PS3 menu... " Last edited by Jacki; 01-08-2010 at 09:39 PM. |

I personally think it could be a bad set too. I had a problem with my season two set - if I paused it, the sound would disappear and I would have to stop then play to get the sound to come back. They rush this show out right after the season ends, so the production quality of the dvds isn't stellar. Love the show though, so I put up with it.

Wow, I just had this issue two nights ago with The Tudors
What I found to fix it was when you select the DVD from the XMB, hit the triangle (options button) and it will give you three choices if I remember correctly (PLAY, PLAY FROM BEGINNING, and ...... Something else) Select "Play from Beginning" and you should be able to navigate the disc, menu and all, without issue. For some reason the set gets hung up or something after the first time its played. Hope this solution helps someone else ![]() Last edited by DeadDog; 01-09-2010 at 07:59 PM. |

I think I have solved the problem with my DVDs. You would think new DVDs would be clean, but I decided to wash them with soap and water. Mainly for the reason that occasionly the episodes would work. It did the trick. I have tested a couple DVDs and they are playing fine now. I suggest you try washing yours. There must be some sort of residue on them.

its the crappy bluray players
i bought a 400$ LGBD390 and it doesnt work for it either. i had to pull out my old player to watch the disks. i own both HDDVD and unfortunatly blu ray. only because hddvd productioon has stoped. bluray is slow as hell not only in start up but also INET connectivity is a joke takes minutes to connect to bdlive and then there is never anything worth a shit on bdlive. hddvd is still my favorite plus it has tons of interactivity addons extras etc. bluray mostly like regular dvd features both pictures look kick ass on my new lg 50s60 but man i sure wish hddvd didnt disappear cause if u compair the 2 there is nothing as good as hddvd |
