I don't think the 2 female adapter will hurt anything !
as far as the component cables I think it would work ~ I have never done it . I would Use RCA cables if it were me !

BTW Thank You Cpus

There will be an effect (more junctions), but it is likely to be very small, probably unnoticable.

If you mean can you connect two of those cables from the L & R outputs (usually red and white) of your source to the L & R inputs of your amp, then yes you can (and you'll have a "spare" cable left over). Probably not ideal. But if you mean can you transfer sound while hooked up in component mode using those cables, then nope, you're outta luck. :-)

I answered the question as I thought he wanted to know if Componant Video cables carried AUDIO when properly connected, which they do not. You can however, like Richteer mentioned, easily substitute COMPONANT for regular RCA cables for use in an audio connection. You'd be left with one cable dangling loose somewhere though, not something I'd want to incorporate myself.

Oh, I see. I thought it would have had something to do with the wiring itself, not whether the audio was carried by the component cables. Fair enough, I just mis-understood the question.
