Default If I only had $1000 with me...

So I was at BB today spending the last of my gift cards when I stopped by the Magnoila Department to look at the Pioneer Elite SC25. They had it marked down from $1699 to $999! I asked the clerk how long it was going to be at that price. She looked on the computer and said it was supposed to be $1499, but if I wanted one I could have it at that price and that she was going to change it as soon as I walked away.

Needless to say, I did not have an extra $1000 with me.

So anyone who might - check your local Magnolia - they might have made the same mistake!!!

Some might say "should have bought it and then cut the card up", but then one deal turns to another deal.

Like you said, "Been down that road", then with the interest, the deal is not as good as you started

Yes I'm getting there as well. I only carry 1 card with me just for emergencies (car, hotel etc) with only a 1k limit all the big cards stay at home locked up. Yea BB makes some good money when people don't pay off there promo in time. They can easily make a good 1K+ on a TV over 3years of interest adding up.

All you need is a little self-control. Ive been using credit cards for about 4 years and have never bought anything that I couldnt pay off right away. I treat mine like a debit card.

Unfortunately credit card companies are getting wise to people like us who use their money and never pay a dime in interest, one of my cards just sent out a notice saying interest is gonna accrue now from the day of purchase. Can't abuse their system anymore. I screwed up my credit pretty good when i was 18, ran up a large debt. But if you use it wisely, and only use it almost like floating a check, as in don't buy anything you won't have payed off before the bill arrives, it can be a great thing. At least for now, i am sure more cards will fall into line soon to figure out how to financially rape the few people using their credit the right way.

And it's reasons like this why we all admire Tyler Durden so much. Just blow the suckers to kingdom come!

The rule of thumb is to "never use the card if you don't have the cash on you". Trust me from personal experience, having cc debt is like have a elephant hanging over your head. I've finally cleared my cc debt and I currently own 4 CC (one of them is the Circuit City CC and never used it since CC went belly up) and whenever the bill arrived, I payed it completely off. Also, CC companies are closing accounts of people who don't use their cards for a extended period of time (both my parents were contacted by their cc companies stating that if they use their cc's by a certain date, they would have their accounts closed).

Rule of thumb: Don't spend money you don't have.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I learned that lesson the hard way years ago.

Not only charging interest from day of purchase but there is one ban, forget the name that is charging a 80% interest rate. Anyone who gets that card is a ra-tard

All the changes coming with cc companies are due to the policies passed by Obama's administration. Setting limitations on interest rates, late fees, etc. CC companies are not going to be able to charge as much soon, so they are trying to get what money they can before the changes go into effect. This is causing cc compaines to re-evaluate their current customers - of course they are going to drop anyone they can't make any money off of.

The unintended consequences of government meddling.

I would have purchased the unit, gone home and tried to re-sell on Blu-ray.com for a small profit, If it did not sell, returned the item.

No matter what, you were protected. But the bottom line was, you probably could have made an easy $100 then picked up a few Blus with it.
