I thought they were going for a skull theme for all 3 covers but this one just throws a complete curveball to that.. oh well.. artwork is still sick

35 minutes in and there are still 12 copies available online for preorder. Pretty sad compared to the excitement of the previous steelbooks.

Probably due to the fact that people in the US already got theirs for those that wanted it plus people realizing its not hard to pick-up at stores anymore so no need to pay the shipping for ordering one.. just go pick it up day 1 (plus district 9 releasing same day so bound to go for both)

The slowness of pre ordering these is because of Best Buy. So Canadian buyers here are just buying for themselves and maybe friends and that is it. No one is rushing to get tons of them to try a make a quick buck like before since they are not selling all that much on ebay.

That is what I did today, I never pre ordered, I just went to FS and picked up Pirates 2 and Inglourious Basterds and will do the same next week with District 9

Yep. Dreadful movie, unless you watch it back-to-back with Dead Man's Chest.

It had a few cool moments, though.

True, but I figure that the lack of demand is 100% due to the BestBuy release of them all and no one is really picking up extras to sell as the will get stuck with them or they will loose money. Some of the previous OOS releases have shown up back in the stores now as returns.

The first Pirates movie was awesome and I have to say that I hated the second and third when I watched them in the theatre. They are all over the place and so many names to keep up with.

Once they came out on DVD, and I got them I watched them a couple times and once I understood the story, they became really enjoyable.

The second and third are one of the movies that need to be watched a few times to be appreciated.

Again that is just my 0.2

I agree the Best Buy US situation is the sole reason for slow sales on the FS one. Crappy movie or not, the false impression of a 2000 run release would have certainly moved these units.

Exactly, since Steelbook collectors, collect them for the Steelbook and not just the movie.

You sure? they are usually on the shelves at the back of the store not on the front ones when you walk in.
My store had several Pirates 3 as well as 3 copies of Pirates 2.
