Default Where to Pre-Order Games Online

How many of you order your games online? If so, from where? I was wanting to go ahead and save 10 bucks or so by ordering Star Ocean 4 and FF XIII online (no tax, free shipping, and $3 off the MSRP!)

To anyone that's pre-ordered games online from Amazon or Newegg (or anywhere else), do you typically receive the game on or within a couple days of the B&M release date? After crunching the numbers I think I'm going to start buying all my games (and movies for that matter) online. What do you think?

Many of the members here do order online because that's where you find the best bargains. I usually go anywhere that has the best deal whether its online or B&M. Its a game of cat and mouse.

I have Amazon Prime so I buy EVERYTHING there.

Free 2 day shipping, or 3.99 overnight shipping.

99% of the time they're shipped via UPS but every once in awhile they come via Fed Ex.

Many games have RELEASE DATE DELIVERY but not all.

I order everything I can online. All PS3 games, hard drives, cables, speakers, video cards, etc. Hell I even ordered a few dress shirts online recently because the store (Macy's) doesn't have the size in store. Screw the sales tax (not with Macy's of course)! Plus amazon usually has things cheaper than MSRP which is just another reason I buy online.

I also order all of my PC games online via digital distribution. This past week has been especially damaging to my wallet since Steam was offering some triple A titles for as low as $2.50.

So yeah for PS3 games amazon is the way to go. As for when it will arrive, I always get free super save shipping and i've found it to be pretty random. With Uncharted 2 it took almost 1.5 weeks to arrive. But with Killzone 2 I got it 1 day after it was released. I also recall getting Gran Turismo Prologue on the day of release. Then again I've also waited 3 weeks for a webcam that I ordered...

I don't really mind waiting if it means I get to save a few bucks.

Oh and I almost forgot, check out http://www.newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-007-_-Product <--Final Fantasy 13

They have PS3 games too, and if you live near California (like Las Vegas), their free shipping means it will arrive the next day! Come to think of it, I think I prefer newegg to amazon when buying PS3 games because newegg also has games for 56.99. Yeah, definitely checkout newegg.com

I buy most things online as well, it just never occured to me to buy console games (new ones at least) because it seemed to me that the prices were regulated by MS / Sony (new titles are always $59.99 except at Wal-Mart, which is only a quarter lower anyway and I figured that was just an exception for Wal-Mart.)

Looking at the prices at Amazon though, I've calculated that I'll save $7.50 per title once tax is taken into account. Considering I'm about to buy 2 games, that's $15 already. I just might try Amazon Prime if only for a month. Final Fantasy XIII is eligible for that release day shipping you were talking about! I probably spend more than $80 on shipping from Amazon a year anyway. (And it's about time to buy books for next semester...)

As soon as I figure out the address of my new apartment (moving in Tuesday!) I'm going to pull the trigger on these. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Plus say you have a three month Prime trial thing that ends in March, if you have things you bought via Prime that don't get delivered until April or May, the Prime shipping thing still applies, even if you don't renew.

Yup, I'll order from whoever gives the most free goodies. More bang for the buck.

I got Uncharted 2 from amazon release day. It was something like 57.99 and 5-6 bucks to get it street date. Overall probably about the same a B&M after taxes.

Usually if you preorder and have Amazon prime, you'll get the game on release day (assuming you've preordered at least 2 days in advanced.)

Amazon. I'm prime member so free two day or release date delivery for me. Usually Amazon is a few bucks cheaper than B & M stores and no tax.

Another reason why prime rules. I bought a Hori Real Arcade Pro SA joystick. The box weighed 10 lbs. Free two day shipping. Had it in one day
