Default My Conspicuous Computer

Hey there, my computer has been acting very fishy recently, more so at this very instant. I'm currently in Safe Mode with Networking.

When we start our computer up, it doesn't fully load. Instead, after the Windows loading screen it just restarts and the cycle continues. I then tried starting it with the last good known configuration, but that didn't work either. So far, only Safe Mode works.

What is wrong?!?! Help me blu-ray.com forum members, you're my only hope.

If its a virus, you could always reformat you harddrive...but you will need OS boot discs, driver installs etc.

lol I don't think it was from anything i've downloaded or some website i've visited recently... if so, it took a LONG time to do something as i haven't done anything recently .

My computer was messed up a few months ago from viruses so we got rid of them and it was working just fine. I've been doing regular scans and get an occasional Trojan, but more recently everytime i scan i get a Cookie Tracker. So i have no idea if it's a virus... maybe it's an internal problem?

If you can do a scan with a program called Malwarebytes Anti-malware real good program to check for virus's

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...ain;contentAux

if that link doesnt work go to http://www.downloads.com/windows/ and scroll down and you will see the link for that.

you should on a regular basis delete your browsing history, cookies, temp files..etc

what web browser do you have?

Precautions I take:

Firefox webbrowser - delete history, cookies etc (better than Internet Explorer)
Spybot - probably similar to malwarebytes already recommended
Trojan Remover
Bitdefender Antivirus
Window Washer (webroot) - cleans my system thoroughly.

...no issues or concerns.

I guess this helped a bit, it found 35 viruses that Norton did NOT!

Yup i usually delete all those things on a regular basis . I do have Firefox, but i use Internet Explorer on a regular basis.

I'll look into downloading those additional softwares you mentioned there, as after my virus scan my computer restarted and the problem wasn't fixed. It's very weird...

Now that you mention it....ditch Norton!

What a horrible program. (at least with my experience, and sounds like yours too!)

Firefox also has an add-on called BetterPrivacy

Quote:
Better Privacy serves to protect against not deletable longterm cookies, a new generation of 'Super-Cookie', which silently conquered the internet. This new cookie generation offers unlimited user tracking to industry and market research. Concerning privacy Flash- and DOM Storage objects are most critical.
This addon was made to make users aware of those hidden, never expiring objects and to offer an easy way to get rid of them - since browsers are unable to do that for you.

Flash-cookies (Local Shared Objects, LSO) are pieces of information placed on your computer by a Flash plugin. Those Super-Cookies are placed in central system folders and so protected from deletion. They are frequently used like standard browser cookies. Although their thread potential is much higher as of conventional cookies, only few users began to take notice of them. It is of frequent occurrence that -after a time- hundreds of those Flash-cookies reside in special folders. And they won't be deleted - never.

BetterPrivacy can stop them...
