Default Computer Help... Please

let me start by saying i figured this was the best forum to post this in...

i am in the process of looking for a couple new computers for work. i work in a small company of about 15 people. im the youngest one here and no one else really knows anything about technology. (im talking old guys who barely even know how to use the internet) we are wanting to beef up our company a little and get a few more computers. we have 3 computers now that everyone shares, but we are looking to possibly get up to 3 more. i just dont really know what to look for. im good with computers and i know how to use them, but im not too savvy when it comes to the specs of the machines. i know they are looking at spending around 700-900 per machine. that would include everything with screen and printer and all. we dont need anything that is awesome by any means. the thing we need it most for is to make flyers and run our website. im thinking we would probably pick up photoshop element to help with the flyers? can you guys help me to know what im looking for?? i trust this community will point me in the right direction. im not up to date with all the different processors and such. we just need a couple computers to run the internet, be able to update our own website and to make nice sales flyers and we dont want it to be crap in one year. any suggestions??

I would look into Dell's. You can build what you want and they have awesome tech support. www.dell.com

Good luck!

Seconded or you could look at HP - they are pretty good as well, we use them at my work - still going strong after 4/5 years some of them but they do cost more than the dell's - either way you won't go wrong,

a few things to look for spec wise:-

Core 2 duo processors - ideal -especially if you do decide to do some gentle photoshop work - heavy weight stuff will be better with a quad but they are not cheap, core 2 will last you a few years

2 GB of ram at least, 4 if it doesn't add much to the price and again if you do do shome photoshop work then its a must

Storage wise - if you have a server then don't go mad on HDD space but if you don't look to get about 200Gb per machine - storage is cheap at the moment and arty stuff takes up lots of space - especially if you start using photo's

OS wise vista sucks as far as i'm concerned - stick with xp or wait for windows 7

Hope this helps

I would agree with the others on Dell Business...I work as a IT specialist for 6 years and Dell provide the best deal and best service for business owner. you would look around $600 for a whole system.

yeah i am actually a mac owner at home and i will never go back to a windows computer. i cant even stand using windows at work, but apple is just too expensive for my company to afford.

Another vote for Dell business, i checked the prices and u can get a pretty nice system for that price range

also as far as vista its fine, dont listen to the haters and Win7 is based on vista fyi

my laptop is setup for dual boot with vista and 7 RC and yeah 7 is faster and its nice, but i have no issues with vista at this point either.....

I am not a big fan of Dell, they are who we contract with for the Navy's network.
Aside from that, rather than individual computers you should build a nework. Printers can be shared out or have their own IP on the network and can be placed in a couple convienient locations. Shared drives can be set up so people can share documents and they can access files from anycomputer rather than just 1.
