Default Anyone Own a Sharp LCD?

I'm about to purchase the Sharp LC-46SB54U. Does anyone have this TV. How much different is this from their AQUOS line?

I have a Sharp LCD for the bedroom and love it. If you find out things you don't like about the 54 series, there have been some great deals going on with the 64 series too.

What do you mean by "banding issues"?

I have an Aquos..... it's a piece of junk, but apparently it fixed itself (go figure.... can't use the stupid warranty ) I have an older model, and have read nothing but good things about the more recent ones though.

My t.v.'s little "problem" was the fact that it likes to turn itself on.... for instance, I'd go to bed, wake up, and think someone was in the house, only to find out that the T.V. turned itself on.... I got to the point where I thought it was a Remote issue, and would put the remotes in a different room, but it still happened...... I researched, and it wasn't "THAT" uncommon of a problem for my model.

I have a sharp as well. The 64 series i guess. I haven't had any issues with it. I wish it was 120hz, but i'll just have to wait and buy another better TV.

Stay away from Sharp. I have the 64u and I never knew what banding was until I my set got a very bad case of it. This is the biggest issue with Sharp tvs.

Basically you have to look at the name of the set, if its a LC32LX1 it could have an issue but if you see LC32LX1E the problem is probably solved.

my friend just picked up a sharp from dell.com. She wasn't home to sign for it but her sister was and she didn't bother to turn the tv to see if there were any defects or not. Well when my friend came home she got the tv all ready got the remote and than OOPS, tv wouldn't turn on

A very hard lesson to learn.....

Yeah yeah i know..... this really dosn't have anything to do with the sharp lcds because it could happen with any set. But is this a problem that other people have run into at all with other sharps????

I have a 32' Sharp Aquos ( LC 32PD5X,bought January this year) in my bedroom, and it's terrific.I tweaked it a little, mainly by reducing the black.

Got a 32" in my room, 62 series I believe (1080P). Love it to death, not a single complaint about it.

I have a 37 inch 1080P Sharp Aquos in my bedroom. Honestly, it cannot compete with my Sony XBR2, but it get the job done nicely.

Where on the set do you find these numbers? Aside from Model and serial #, there are no numbers like you mentioned on my set. I have the 46d64u

I don't know the model, but I have an Aquos, and it turns itself on/off by itself, and the PQ is pretty terrible. It's an older model though, so I'm sure it has more to do with the fact that it's one of the "First-Batch" of LCDs to hit the market...

I hear the new ones are great.
