Default Old artwork on new catalog releases..

Every time I get a catalog release with the old familiar dvd cover art it's just not that exciting. Maybe I'm just bored of the artwork. Does anyone else share this feeling with me?

as long as they stick with original poster artwork then I am happy. Some recent releases where they changed the artwork is really really tacky bad.

Upcoming releases like Clash of the Titans or Doctor Zhivago is an example of poorly executed artwork by a company who paid too much for someone to photoshop something overnite for the next mornings meeting. and for some odd reason they were thrilled. haha.

*** Main point is usually when they change cover art it is for the worst. Very few times has it been. good. Have you seen the new cover for Logan's Run? YUCK

Yeah, overall I do prefer original poster art but most of the time there are up to three (style A, B & C) original posters to choose from.

I only see the case spine on my shelves. I couldn't care less about what the cover looks like.

that is a good exception and the poster art was finally used. So I agree. But all I see in my minds eye are DVD covers for Jumping Jack Flash, Satisfaction, Flatliners (second run cover) Seems Like Old Times and Murder by Death to name a few.

My only objection to changing artwork is when the star actor is plastered across the cover when he/she wasn't before (i.e. Real Genius, Flirting, Better Off Dead, etc.) I also dislike when the change the cover of a book made into a movie to incorporate a picture from said movie.

I would have a problem with that.
