Default Pioneer VSX 919AH-K Question?

I recently purchased this reciever and am very happy with my purchase. My only problem is that I am upgrading from a HTiB and as such the speakers are kind of dainty and I can't even hook up the sub without doing some kind of modification. I am slowly building up my home theater piece by piece. I hooked it up and it sounded great. So my question is should I just use the Pioneer receiver with these little low powered speakers or should I hold off on using it heavily until I have some more appropriate speakers. Thanks, and sorry I am a total beginner when it comes to audio.

What is the impedance of those speakers (4 ohm, 6 ohm or 8 ohm?) If you don't know where to find this, what is the model # of the HTiB set-up you were using? Anything below 8 ohm can harm your receiver......

Well I am glad I posted on here. Thanks. It looks like it is at 6 so I am going to put it away until I get some new speakers.

well 8 or 6 ohms should kill the receiver, 4 ohm would be pushing it maybe, 3 ohm speaker are what is used on most HTiB setups and those would not be good to use. Very low volumes may be ok for a short time, however, there is always a risk. For your receiver I would upgrade and stay with 8 ohm speakers, your receiver doesn't produce enough wattage to properly power lower impedance speakers. Klipsch, Polk, Infinity, the new Energy CF/CB series speaker would all have a high enough sensitivity and make a good set of speakers for your receiver.
