Hi, I recently switched from the "fat" PS3 to the slim one. In doing so I have set the audio to bitstream as I have the PS3 hooked up via HDMI to my Pioneer 1019 capable of decoding DTS HD and Dolby True. I have noticed the sound bitstreamed compared to PCM to be quieter with less oomph. I was expecting this to be the other way around. I tested this with several discs including the Band Of Brothers Blu Box. In the middle of a scene I will switch from bitstream to PCM and without a doubt hear a difference. Has anyone else experienced this with Bitstreaming compared to PCM? I have no problem resorting back to PCM but I will sure miss the lights on the Pioneer. Could this also be just the way my AVR decodes? I'm perplexed.
