Default Sony 40" S series or V series?

Sony - BRAVIA / 40" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV

Sony - BRAVIA / 40" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV

I know virtually nothing about TVs, and this is my first time buying a TV. I've already decided on Sony (I'm loyal to the brand) and 40", and I've aleady ruled out the other Sony 40" variants, so it's down to these two.

After doing a little Google research, I still haven't been able to decide. The only difference between the two that I see is one is 60 Hz and one is 120 Hz. I have no idea what this means. From what I've read, basically all this means is that the 120 Hz TV comes with a special feature called "auto motion" or "motion flow" or something like that - supposedly makes the image smoother, so movies look "like real life".

Now, if that's all that is different between them, then I definitely don't need the 120 Hz, especially since it costs more and the local Best Buy doesn't have it so I'd have to drive half an hour to Sacramento to get it. I remember going to Circuit City two years ago and saw a movie playing on one of their HDTVs, but it looked unnatural, surreal, disturbing - like it was "real life" instead of film. Apparently stores seem to think that this feature is awesome, but I'd much rather have the regular style, know what I mean? This feature can be turned off on the 120 Hz TV from what I've read, but if I'm never going to use it, I see no point in choosing that over the 60 Hz TV.

What do you guys think? Is there anything else I should know? Thanks!
