Default Finally!!! HD DVD friends see the light

One of my best friends is a huge audiophile/home theater guru. In fact he is one of the most well read and knowledgeable people that I know with respect to Audio/Video. He is an early adaptor and therefore he invested in HD DVD.

When I tried to talk to him about Blu-ray, he would argue back with all the same BS that every HD DUD fanboy gives:

HD DVD is a more finished technology, has PIP, interactive features, Ethernet port, same quality picture as Blu-ray, etc.

I would argue back and tell him that Blu-ray is a new technology and not a DVD hack that is already obsolete. Blu-ray has more capacity, more hardware support, more studio support, higher bitrate, on and on. Every time we talked about AV technology I would keep enforcing the value of Blu-ray.

Anyway he called me today to discuss 300. He told me that he is planning to buy the Blu-ray version because he has finally seen the light. I also think he is fed up because he can't get his new high end HD DVD player to play movies without issues. He also recommended to all his friends (also HD DVD fans) to buy Blu-ray from now on and they will listen to him (hey, they followed him to HD DUD). This is a small win in the format battle because these guys buy almost everything that comes out in HD. And now it will be blu for them from now on.

Oh, and the best part of all. His reason for moving to Blu-ray is because he believes that the format war will end soon and he wants to help Blu-ray become the winner sooner rather than later.
