Ok so I've been wondering something. The HD networks send a constant 16:9 signal even when it's your local news affiliate that then airs in pillarbox. If I'm trying to watch a show like "Stargate SG-1" or "Damages" that irs in widescreen format why can't they send only the widescreen image across the airwaves. It would still be standard def but can't they beam over a 16:9 signal that would then fill up a widescreen tv instead of building in black bars?
