Default Need wall mount recommendation plz

Thinking of mounting my 50" Panny plasma to the wall. Only reason I haven't was because I would be that much farther away from the tv, and I already feel I'm to far, but oh well. Couple things to note: this house was built in 1977. I haven't checked for studs yet, but I'm assuming I should be good? This is a rental, so I don't want to do anything to invasive. I would love to run wires though the wall, but will probably just get a raceway.

What type of mount do wall-mount owners prefer? Low profile? I don't really care about the swivel arm so much, and it's going to be set low enough that tilt won't even make that much of a difference. I'm thinking of ordering from monoprice.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks ahead of time...

I went ahead with the cheaper low profile, but mine does swivel a bit. Glad I went with the swivel, because the tad that I angled mine made a definite difference. For that size, you'll need to hit two studs, so a stud finder would be a good investment. And remember, you'll be using 1/4 lag bolts so pre-drill your holes and to make things easier wax or soap the threads.

I went with the Monoprice Premium wall mount. I think it was around $35-40.

My Monoprice mount has served me very well. $20 gets the job done perfectly.

for the premium mount, did you have to use different HDMI cables so that it didn't stick straight out of the back? I think they sell 90 degree angle tip HDMI, so I didn't know if I'd have to order that immediately or not.

No, I just used regular 28awg. Thicker cable you might have trouble with.

I went with a tilting mount because they give you a little more space between the TV and the wall just for that reason. I'm not sure now though that it would have been an issue. I think there would have been plenty of room either way.

As you noted they do sell a 90° port saver, but pay attention to which way the port saver routes your cable, because they also sell a 270° port saver that routes your cable in the opposite direction.
