Default Blu-ray profiles

I was thinking of getting a new player later this year for my bedroom and I came across this post on AVS.....

Blu-ray still has 3 updates (profiles) due out before Blu-ray even completes its format specs.

The next update (profile 1.1) is due out in November but the one after that (profile 2.0) has no date yet and will mandate hardware changes such as network connectivity and hardware storage differences.

Currently no manufacturer will claim that any player (including the PS3) will be compatible with profile 2.0 once it is released.

I would suggest either waiting till a manufactuerer at least officially makes this gurantee or purchase with the understanding that the player may not be fully functional a year from now.

I'd speculate and guess the PS3 has the best chance of being compatible but I'm surprised Sony isnt claiming and guranteeing this now if it was true.

How big of an issue is this later in the future??

How acurate is this...I like to see it explain from someone here, Im always hearing how big AVS favors HD-DVD..Thx
