So far if Apatow is directing I've enjoyed it, but have not felt the desire to rewatch as many times as with the first few Smith films...

Kevin Smith's first few films were great, but his most recent (Zack & Miri) felt like Kevin Smith was trying to be Judd Apatow... and it just felt forced. I do own all of Kevin Smith's films from Clerks to Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back... I liked Jersey Girl, but for some reason never got around to buying it... now I will wait for the blu.

I hate most Kevin Smith movies and can tolerate or even like most of Judd Apatow's movies, so Apatow all the way for me.

I'm not as big a fan of Smith as much as I used to be, but at least he can edit his films properly. I could not believe Funny People was nearly as long as Dark Knight. And it wasn't funny. 40 Year Old Virgin is great though.

So...Smith.

Kevin Smith has better dialogue, which is always very funny. I like them both, but Kevin has the upper arm with his superior writing skills.

Poll?

Judd Apatow for me, since his comedies are more polished and more well-directed than Smith's.

Smith. Apatow's directed films started out funny. 40 Year Old Virgin was hilarious. Knocked Up was all right. Funny People wasn't really that funny.

Smith for me, seen the guy live, the stuff he comes up with off the top of his head! Wow. Brilliant writer and his dialogue is what he does best.

Apatow. And Kevin Smith's films keep getting better? I loved Clerks, but, to me, Smith's movies have never lived up to his debut movie.

Apatow is great but...

Kevin Smith is comedic genius, his dialogue is always hilarious and I pretty much love all of his movies (Clerks II is my fav) and I enjoy his other projects too such as stand-ups (Evening with Kevin Smith 2 is easily my all-time favourite stand-up), comics and books.

Clerks is one of the funniest movies ever made. Apatow makes decent Hollywood comedies, but nothing that will be remembered fifteen years from now.
