Why is the LONG DUE release of Peter Jackson's King Kong only 187 minutes?
Why couldn't they release the extended edition that was put out on dvd that was 201 minutes? That is a whole bunch of extra scenes. I had Kong on HD-DVD because it was free, and I bought the extended version on DVD just to see the extra stuff. I was waiting forever for this to come out on Blu, and now that it is I am not thrilled because it is not the extended edition. I dont konw if this bothers anyone else, I am a huge monster movie buff, and I thought this one was truly done well. I will probably still get it, but I am not pleased that its the shorter copy. Granted the movie is like a marathon, but those extra scenes were a good addition. Now if I could only get gladiator on blu I would finally be a happy man..... |

Just so you know, the upcoming Blu-ray release of King Kong will have both the theatrical and extended editions of the film. At least that's what it says according to the following URL: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2049#comments |

Why not just make it the extended, and not have 2 versions of the movie? That makes no sense to me
Edit: Just read post above me after I wrote this.... I can sleep soundly now ![]() still waiting on mr. ridley scott to deliver the goods though, will it ever happen? well, multiple goods i guess, LOTR and Glad.... Last edited by z3speed4me; 01-06-2009 at 02:57 AM. Reason: ... |

Am I the only one who preferred the shorter version? I thought the giant insect scene went on far too long and was wholly unnecessary to begin with (and yes, I know it was PJ's homage to a scene that was famously cut from the original), but the added water monster attack was overkill. I'd respectfully have to say in this case, more wasn't better.

the extra scenes are really cool to watch, but taking them out of the movie doesn't really add anything. i think 187 minutes is long enough....
i do like really long movies, but let's be realistic, as cool as those extra scenes are, they aren't necessary |

Ridley Scott made LotR?!!
Yeah and he made those Star Wars movies too ![]() Seriously though, I hope both versions are on the disc. It would be nice to watch the extended version when I want to spare the time. The shorter version for guests and such. Wishfull thinking Peter Jackson could get LOTR released with both versions. I really don't want to double dip LOTR again! |
