Default Samsung 61' DLP Lamps

Hey all,

I was wondering when I should replace the bulbs in my Samsung DLP television that I bought in January 2007. How would I know if the picture has been affected?

And, where can I get them amd how much should they cost?
Does this have to be an online purchase or do general electronics stores have them?

You replace the bulb when the old one blows, not until then. It`s been awhile since i have bought one but it should be $150 or so. Google dlp bulb and you will find several places to get one, and i WOULD get one so that when your bulb does blow, you will be ready.

+1 on the having a backup bulb. The first time i had a bulb die on my samsung dlp, i spent half the day trying to find one locally. And literally got the ONLY one in town at my local frys. Best Buys do not carry replacement Bulbs, And sears only carries them through their parts store online. The odds are good that where you live will not have the bulb you need when the time comes.

The same goes with Color Wheels, mine shattered 2 months back and took me a week to get one delivered. Though ordering a backup isn't the most important thing unless your DLP is nearing the 5 year mark. Which is about how long they are meant to last.

As for where to get them. If you have a frys around you, give them a shot. They usually have one bulb per samsung model in stock at each store. If not, i get all the rest of my parts from mcmelectronics.com have had nothing but good service from them. Just be VERY careful if your ordering DLP tv parts online, a lot of the sellers are less than reputable. Check reselleratings.com before you choose a place. And whatever you do don't go through Samsungparts.com they are HORRIBLE.
